Five 40oz heat sealed packages of light halves and pieces from my Uncle's orchard on our family farm, in Red Bluff, CA. This year it is 40% halves, double the industry standard of 20% and significantly higher halves percentage than we ran last year. See pictures. Same quality and freshness as in the past, grown in the same orchard. Since these are grown in my Uncle's orchard, not the one I manage, these are NOT certified organic. I don't have the relationship with my organic processor to get shelled walnuts back from them currently. It's an uncommon personal favor for a small grower, and my Uncle's sheller does it for him based on his long history with them.
One thing we have changed is we are no longer marketing these walnuts based on growing practices. These are just fresh crop high quality light halves and pieces conventionally grown. That being said, my Uncle does not use the synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, miticides, ripeners, or bloom accelerators common in most commercial conventional orchards and his insecticide use and herbicide use is much less than industry standard. However, this year, he did use a bait stream spray for husk fly due to very high trap count numbers and he did use a synthetic herbicide around sprinklers and tree trunks where it was not convenient to mow.
As in years past, these are raw, NOT pasteurized.
