These walnuts were harvested from some old Hartley and chandler walnut trees that my now ten year old son son has been watering and mowing around as his "Orchard" for the last three years. He hand gleaned the walnuts and ambient air dried them on his own drying set up. He does a good job. No sprays or artificial chemicals have been used on or around the trees for at least five or six years probably closer to a decade or more. He also hand sorted them for appearance. These are the old standard in Shell Walnut the Hartley with one tree that is actually a chandler in there. Same mix as last year, but I realized this year that one of his best trees was actually a Chandler my Uncle grafted into the old orchard there, so if you ordered last year there's a good chance a few of your walnuts were Chadlers. He mixes them together. If you grew up around a commercial orchard 40 years ago, Hartley is probably the variety it was although there are some other varieties. Overall these are very high quality hard to find and my son's attention to detail is quite good. He has boxed them up into my 8 lb box sizes and that's what will be sent out to you. The price reflects that this is a one of a kind old fashioned Walnut product harvested in a way you just won't find much any more by a ten year old. THESE ARE NOT CERTIFIED ORGANIC. NO PAPERWORK HAS BEEN DONE FOR THEM. They are on our family property 300 yards away from the certified organic orchard I manage.
